Myrrh oil is extracted by steam distillation of the oleoresin-gum (crude myrrh) and yields 3 – 5 %. Native to north-east Africa, Myrrh is mainly found in Ethiopia, Somalia, Saudi-Arabia, Iran and Thailand. Myrrh has been used in perfumes, incense and embalming. It has been used to treat acne and boils as well as mild inflammatory conditions. It finds specific use in the treatment of infections in the mouth such as ulcers, gengivitis, phyorrea, as well as catarrhal problems associated with pharyngitis and sinusitis.

Tea Tree Oil

The oil has been described as having a fresh, camphor-like smell.

Description

Tea tree is a shrub in the myrtle family, growing to a height of about 20 feet. Tea tree oil contains over 100 plant chemicals and over 98 compounds. The most abundant of these is terpinen-4-ol which makes up at least 30 per cent and has an important role in the oil’s antimicrobial activity. Tea Tree oil or melaleuca oil is an essential oil with a fresh camphoraceous odor and a color that ranges from pale yellow to nearly colorless and clear. Tea tree oil may be effective in a variety of dermatologic conditions including dandruff, acne, lice, herpes, eczema and other skin infections. It is used for treating athlete’s foot, various yeast infections, cuts and burns, chest congestion, dispelling body odor, for sinus infection, colds, persistent coughs, toothaches, and sunburn. It is also used to treat insect bites. Tea Tree oil is antiseptic, antimicrobial, antifungal, antibacterial, antivirus, antiparasitic and anti-inflammatory.

Cedarwood oil is often used for its aromatic properties, especially in aromatherapy. Himalayan Cedarwood oil which is of outstanding quality is produced mainly in India. The bulk of world Cedarwood oil exports are majorly from India. Cedrus deodara is a species of cedar native to the Himalayas and occurs at 1,500–3,200 m altitude. It is a large evergreen coniferous tree reaching about 50 m tall. It has a conic crown with level branches and drooping branchlets. It grows extensively on the slopes of the Himalayas in northern India. Deodara comes from the Sanskrit term devadaru, which means “wood of the gods”. The Hindus worship it as a divine tree. Several Hindu legends refer to this tree. Cedarwood oil is often used for its aromatic properties, especially in aromatherapy. Himalayan Cedarwood Oil is antidepressant, antiseptic, anti-putrescent, anti-seborrheic, aphrodisiac, astringent, Catarrh, diuretic, expectorant, fungicidal, mucolytic, sedative (nervous), stimulant (circulatory), tonic.
